Are the allowances and rent-free residences provided under Salaries and Allowances of Officers of Parliament Act, 1953 exempt from income tax?

Yes. As per Section 10A of the Salaries and Allowances of Officers of Parliament Act, 1953, the sumptuary allowance and the value of rent-free furnished residence are not included in the computation of taxable income under the Income-tax Act, 1961.
