As per the amendment effective from September 17, 2001, the Speaker receives a sumptuary allowance equal to that of a Cabinet Minister under the Salaries and Allowances of Ministers Act, 1952, while the Deputy Speaker and Deputy Chairman receive the allowance equivalent to a Minister of State.
