It is customary for the Rajya Sabha to offer farewell wishes to retiring members after the Question Hour. Until 1986, this was typically done during the March-April session, but due to varying retirement dates now, farewells are given whenever a member’s retirement is imminent. Members who are retiring are also invited to speak and respond to the farewell messages.
